Aquatrainer - procedure

The aqua trainer consists of a treadmill that is about one meter wide and three meters long and is placed under water. The speed of the treadmill and the height of the water will be individual to each horse

and set his daily form. In combination with a coordinated frequency of aqua training, this offers the ideal opportunity to adapt the training or rehabilitation to meet your needs.

During training, the horses are closely observed to respond to each horse and adjust the training accordingly.

Many people worry about the possible stress their horse might experience in an aquatrainer, but experience shows that almost all horses tolerate the training well. Nevertheless, all aquatrainers are equipped with an emergency stop switch for safety.

Example of a horse coming to aqua training for the first time:

The state of health of the horse was already discussed when the appointment was made, if necessary, the veterinarian obtained the okay and the goal of the aqua training was discussed. At the first appointment, the horses are familiarized with the aqua trainer in peace and quiet. For this, the horses are guided through the aqua trainer a few times. Only when this works well will the doors be closed. Now it's getting exciting, because most horses don't know a treadmill yet. The treadmill will start. Most horses quickly understand what they need to do: run. Now the horses can familiarize themselves with the treadmill before the aqua trainer is filled with water. The first training usually lasts 10 - 15 minutes and is then built up and adjusted from time to time. After the aqua training, the legs are washed and, if desired, the horses can go under the solarium.

Aqua training is extremely strenuous. For this reason, it is built up slowly and gently.

It makes no sense to immediately let an untrained horse run in the water for 30 minutes.

It is also easy to overwhelm horses with too much training.

For example, if the horse comes to aqua training once a week, the duration, the water level and the speed of the treadmill are adjusted and increased each time.
